Training for peace PART 1.
Developing capacities for youth education
Intro:
The “Training for peace” project aims to strengthen the competencies of youth workers and educators in peace education, empowering young people to resist populism and extreme political waves. The project includes courses covering topics such as peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and non-formal education. It aligns with the annual priorities of the E+ Programme, which include promoting diversity, intercultural dialogue, and preventing violent radicalization of young people. The project’s objectives are to qualify new peace educators, create new educational materials and activities, and trigger transnational partnerships on peace education.
Expected results of the seminar:
- improve the quality of youth work, promote diversity, intercultural dialogue, equip youth workers with competencies and methods
- prevent violent radicalization of young people
- address the rise of populism in Europe by providing peace education to young people
- achieve these goals by qualifying new peace educators, creating new educational materials and activities, and triggering transnational partnerships on peace education among youth organizations
- promote intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, and solidarity
- respect of human rights, critical thinking
Concept:
- The project aims to improve youth work quality and prevent violent radicalization by developing social media competencies through consultations with youth organizations and workers.
- Project aims to address populism in Europe by providing peace education to young people and creating transnational partnerships on peace education, aligning with E+ program priorities.
- “Training for peace” project aims to strengthen youth worker competencies in peace education through online and training courses.
Project objectives:
The project aims to develop competencies related to social media and active participation among youth workers, promote diversity, intercultural dialogue, and equip them with competencies and methods to prevent violent radicalization of young people. The project also aims to address the rise of populism in Europe by providing peace education to young people, empowering them to resist populism and chauvinism. The objectives include qualifying new peace educators, creating new educational materials and activities for peace education, and triggering transnational partnerships on peace education. The project will use non-formal and informal methods to develop the skills of youth workers and create a supportive community.
Participation profiles:
- youth workers, young community leaders and members of the partner organizations;
- aged 18+
- experience working with young people
- familiar and interested to the topic
- knowledge of the situation of young people in their own country;
- motivation to take part in a mutual learning process in a very intercultural setting;
- good level of English to follow the seminar and to contribute to it;
- wish and ability to participate fully in the event;
The project contributes to:
The project “Training for peace” aims to contribute to addressing the rise of populism in Europe by providing peace education to young people, empowering them to resist populism and chauvinism. The project’s objectives are to qualify new peace educators, create new educational materials and activities for peace education programmes for young people, and trigger transnational partnerships on peace education among youth organizations.
By focusing on the development of competencies related to social media and active participation, the project aims to improve the quality of youth work, promote diversity, intercultural dialogue, and equip youth workers with competences and methods to prevent violent radicalization of young people. The project also seeks to promote key competences to foster intercultural dialogue, social inclusion, and solidarity, and to enhance the international dimension of youth activities and the capacity of youth workers and organizations in their support for youth.
Through the “Training for peace” project, 22 participants from eight countries will participate in an online course and two training courses covering topics such as peacebuilding, conflict transformation, peace education, and non-formal education. The program will deepen participants’ understanding and improve their professional competencies in conflict transformation and change processes using peace education.
The project aims to empower young people and youth workers with the necessary competencies and skills to promote peace, intercultural dialogue, and respect for fundamental European values, while also preventing violent radicalization among young people. By creating new peace educators and educational materials, the project seeks to trigger transnational partnerships on peace education and promote diversity and intercultural dialogue in youth work.
Time schedule:
Arrival day: 12th March 2023
Departure day: 20th March 2023
Accomondation and food:
The participants will be accommodated in a guest house at Kistárkány, from two to six bedded rooms divided by gender.
Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners per day will be provided on the spot.
Travelling to Slovakia:
ONLY INTERNATIONAL TRAVELS ARE COVERED!
The travel arrangements will be done by the coordinating organisation. As soon as the participants are selected the project coordinator will get in touch for further arrangement

Financial Conditions/ Reimbursements:
We will organise the travel for you!
The course is implemented in the frame of the Erasmus+ Programme. The costs – including costs of full-board and accommodation during the program – will be covered by the organisers.
Participants are expected to cover insurance and any additional personal expenses.
If the participant fails to attend the event the organisers shall be compelled to charge him/her for any travel expenses covered by the organisers.

- Health insurance documents: the health/ travel insurance is in the responsibility of the participants, make sure you are covered during your stay in Slovakia!
