Intro:
Aim of this training course is to empower individuals working in youth organizations with the knowledge, skills and tools necessary to effectively counter hate speech based on human rights values and approaches.
Description:
The rise of hate speech poses a significant challenge to the communities worldwide. Hate speech, in its various forms, undermines human rights principles and threatens social cohesion, fuels discrimination, and can lead to violence and conflict. Recognizing the severity of this issue, we developed a 7- day training course dedicated to countering hate speech and promoting human rights values. This training course is designed for individuals working in youth organizations as trainers, youth workers, activists, campaigners, and are multipliers of knowledge. These participants play an important role in raising awareness and educating young people on issues such as combating hate speech and promoting human rights. The training course is designed based on non-formal education and is interactive, learner-centered, and tailored to the specific needs of the participants. Through group activities, discussions, case studies and practical exercises, participants will gain the tools needed to counter hate speech.
Learning Outcomes::
Knowledge:
- Participants will acquire in-depth knowledge of the definition, anatomy and various forms of hate speech, as well as potential causes and consequences.
- Participants will learn the importance of human rights based approach and human dignity at its core.
- Participants will dive deep into the principles of freedom of expression, allowing them to discuss the balance between countering hate speech and protecting fundamental rights.
- Participants will learn the step-by-step approach to analyzing hate speech and designing human rights based counter and alternative narratives.
Skills:
- Through interactive and practical exercises, participants will develop the skills to analyze, deconstruct and respond to hate speech.
- They will build media literacy skills, as well as critical thinking.
- Participants will practice teamwork, communication, strategic planning and public speaking.
Attitudes:
- Participants will gain a strong commitment to promoting human rights values and countering hate speech within their spheres of influence.
- They will develop empathy and solidarity with the common target groups of hate speech.
- By the end of the training course, participants will be empowered and motivated to take a proactive role in countering hate speech and fostering inclusivity in their organizations and communities.

Participant Profile:
- Aged 18 and above,
- Ability to communicate and work in English,
- Actively engaged in NGOs, youth organizations, or work as a trainer,youth worker, campaigner, activist or multiplier of knowledge, with a desire to enhance your knowledge and skills in countering hate speech.
- Motivated to actively participate in all aspects of the training course, including group discussions, workshops and practical exercises.
- Ability to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training to develop practical strategies countering hate speech within your organization or community.
- Respect and value diverse perspectives and experiences of fellow participants.
- Be fully available during the whole program
Accomondation and Food:
The participants will be accommodated in Evangelikus Konferencia és Missziói Központ, Balatonszárszó, from two to five bedded rooms.
Breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, will be provided by the organizers.
All the instructions on how to arrive at the venue will be sent by email.

Costs and travel:
The travel arrangements will be done by the coordinating organisation. As soon as the participants are selected the project coordinator will get in touch for further arrangements. If the participant fails to attend the event the organisers shall be compelled to charge him/her for any travel expenses covered by the organisers.
We will buy your tickets in advance, as soon as you confirm your participation we will make you an offer.
The accommodation and food will be covered 100% by the grant of Erasmus+ programme. We have a limited budget for travel costs. According to the restrictions of the Erasmus+ Programme we can only refund up to some of the travel cost, if the following points are fulfilled:
- Your travel route is from your hometown to the venue in Hungary and back (if you are not traveling from your hometown, contact us previously).
- You have chosen reasonable and economic means of transportation (cheap airlines, 2nd class trains, etc.)
- Your travel dates are according to the programme
- You have a receipt or invoice for the cost of your plane ticket and the boarding cards or the train/bus tickets
Checklist / What to do & what to bring:
- Registration form: Please use this form to register your selected candidates.
- Towel and your own hygiene equipment ( shower gel, shampoo, ect.)
- Health insurance documents: the health/ travel insurance is in the responsibility of the participants, make sure you are covered during your trip.
- Participants will be asked to bring their European Insurance Card and we will have available transportation to a nearby hospital in case of emergency.
- We will also ask for the boarding passes, so be sure to keep them!
